If you haven’t already booked your spot, delegate registration is still open for GeoOttawa 2017 (taking place October 1-4) at security.gibsongroup.ca/geoottawa2017/registration. The organizing committee has organized an excellent technical program featuring over 400 oral and poster presentations (plus optional add-on short courses and tours) as well as a vibrant social program – full conference details are available at geoottawa2017.ca.
Dr. Richard Bathurst of the Royal Military College of Canada will present the opening R.M. Hardy Address: Load and Resistance Factor Design and Calibration for Simple Soil-Structure Limit States in MSE Walls. That will be followed by the 2017 Darcy Lecture presented Dr. Kamini Singha of the Colorado School of Mines entitled: A Tale of Two Porosities: Exploring Why Contaminant Transport Doesn't Always Behave the Way It Should.
Besides the technical and social events planned for GeoOttawa 2017, the Canadian Geotechnical Achievements will be unveiled at the opening luncheon while the 2017 CGS & IAH Awards will be presented at Monday evening’s Awards Banquet. In addition, CGS’s Technical Divisions, Standing Committees, and Geotechnical Research Board will hold their respective AGMs during the conference. Also, make sure to attend the Golder GEOpardy event this year in Ottawa. Always a lot of fun for the student participants and delegate audience! This will take place on Tuesday during the afternoon coffee break.
We look forward to seeing you this fall in Ottawa!
