Jean Hutchinson, CGS Member and Professor at Queen’s University, is the recipient of the Engineering Group of the Geological Society’s 20th Glossop Medal, to be presented on November 13th at the Royal Institution (London). She will deliver a lecture titled “Building the engineering geology process model: Extending our understanding of rock slope instability mechanisms using remotely sensed data.” Congratulations Jean!
Richard Bathurst, CGS Past-President and Professor at the GeoEngineering Centre at Queen’s-RMC, has been inducted as an International Honorary Member of the Japanese Geotechnical Society. This honor was given in recognition of his many technical and leadership contributions to the international geosynthetics community, and for his numerous collaborations with members of the JGS over many years.
Andrea Lougheed, CGS Section Director and Senior Geotechnical Engineer at BGC Engineering, was a mentor at the Women in Consulting Engineering (WCE) Vancouver’s first Mentorship Mixer this past October. The WCE is a community devoted to supporting and empowering women in engineering and increasing gender diversity and inclusion in the industry. Andrea was one of over 20 mentors who participated in the mixer, which focused on facilitating connections between mentors and mentees, and providing guidance, advice, and support to young women in engineering.
