Vancouver Island Section

The Vancouver Island Geotechnical Group conducts its meetings in a luncheon format. Our monthly meeting is usually held on Thursday of the third week of the month. A total of 7 to 9 presentations are given each year (from September to May) with invited speakers on a wide variety of topics. The group has active members across Vancouver Island with most of the members from south and mid VI.

Executive Committee
The executive committee of the Vancouver Island Geotechnical Group consists of the following members:

Vice-Chair/Program Director: Jay McIntyre, P.Eng., Thurber Engineering Ltd.
Secretary/Treasurer: Sarah Morse, P.Eng., Golder Associates Ltd.
Registrar: Isabelle Maltais, Ryzuk Engineering, Victoria, BC

We wish to enlarge the EC of our Group to better serve the members and easily achieve our goals. We are inviting the members to volunteer to fill three vacant positions (Secretary, Web Manager & Industry Liaison).

This one-day seminar offered by the Vancouver Geotechnical Society http://www.v-g-s.ca will be given by Dr. Bengt Fellenius, P.Eng. - a specialist in foundation design and studies. A former Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Ottawa from 1979 through 1996, Dr. Fellenius is an internationally recognized authority in the field of soil mechanics and foundation engineering, and, in particular deep foundations.
