Geotechnical News June 2011
WASTE GEOTECHNICS
announced the establishment of the Oil
Sands Tailings Consortium (OSTC) in
December 2010. The consortium con-
sists of oil sands companies includ-
ing Canadian Natural Resources Ltd.,
Imperial Oil, Shell Canada, Suncor,
Syncrude Canada Ltd., Teck Resourc-
es, and Total E&P. Fortunately, these
companies no longer have to go to the
moon to find superstar researchers like
Carrier to work on the tailings ponds…
only to Florida, where Carrier currently
resides.
