| Apr 15-16, 2026 | Webinar (Online) | How AI is Changing Geotechnical Engineering The excitement about AI and machine learning (ML) is all around us, and we are just starting to explore how AI/ML can directly impact our work as geotechnical engineers. The use of AI/ML in geotechnical engineering generally has focused on: (1) Larg | See Website or Contact asdhar@mun.ca |
| Apr 22, 2026 | Online | AEG Land Subsidence Virtual Symposium Land subsidence is a widespread geologic hazard resulting from a range of natural and anthropogenic processes, with far-reaching conseque for infrastructure stability, water-resource sustainability, and coastal resilience. This virtual symposium will illustrate subsidence processes, monitoring techniques, infrastructure damage and socio-economic impacts, and the laws, regulations, and management policies spawned by this growing global hazard. Don’t miss this outstanding symposium. | See Website |
| Apr 30, 2026 | Online | Geohazards Connections 2026 Graduate students from Canadian universities working in geohazards are invited to apply to present at the GeoHazards Connections online conference, to be held on April 30, 2026. GeoHazards Connections, organised by the CGS Geohazards Committee and hosted this year by Simon Fraser University, provides a remote platform for graduate students conducting geohazard research to connect, share their work, and receive feedback from practitioners and colleagues and faculty members at other academic institutions. The event will consist of 8-10-minute presentations plus 2 minutes for discussion and will be hosted via an online platform. This will be a great warm-up opportunity for those attending and presenting at the CGS Geohazards 9 conference in June, or a good alternative for those who can’t. Applications for presentation are due on April 7, 2026 and can be submitted by following this link: forms.cloud.microsoft/r/w6aipdZyQQ | Contact SFU.EGRG@gmail.com |
| Jun 01-03, 2026 | University of Alberta, Edmonton, AB | Geohazards 9 Welcome to the 9th installment of the Canadian Conference on Geotechnique and Natural Hazards. Since the inception for the series in 1992, applied earth science practitioners from across Canada have gathered to share insights on our collective understand of how the earth’s processes and populations interact and how we continue to maintain this balance. Abstracts are due October 15, 2025! | See Website or Contact emily@karma-link.ca |
