Student Membership Benefits

In addition to most of the regular CGS member benefits, the CGS includes the following benefits for student members:

CGS Student Chapters

The CGS launched pilot tests of Student Chapters in September 2019. Student Chapters provide university students an opportunity to raise awareness and learn more about our field, network with professionals, and gain leadership experience through creating an organization within the CGS. 

The universities include (from west to east):

  • University of British Columbia
  • University of Alberta
  • University of Saskatchewan
  • University of Manitoba
  • Waterloo University
  • Queen’s University and Royal Military College
  • Dalhousie University
  • Western University

Sponsorship

Each year, the CGS and its sections across Canada sponsor students to attend the CGS Annual conference. Contact your nearby section for more information about these sponsorship opportunities.

In addition, the numerous sections, divisions, and committees of the CGS frequently organize events for students and sponsors student involvement in the Society. Please contact a nearby section, division, or committee of your interest to find out how you can get involved in the CGS and to be informed of student activities and support.
