The CGS Communications Task Force formed last fall has met three times to date to help evolve the society’s communication strategy, including electronic messages and printed publications. Their recommended “From the CGS Board” column in CGS News in Geotechnical News launched in the last issue of the magazine.
The task force introduced a motion at the April CGS Executive Committee meeting to change the name of the CGS electronic newsletter, currently called CGS-GIN (CGS Geotechnical Info Net), to CGS E-news. The Executive Committee passed the motion and the new name is now in effect.
As CGS’s official publication, the task force is currently reviewing options for the technical and CGS content in Geotechnical News and expects to deliver their report at the end of the summer. A second report on communications at large including the development of a comprehensive communication strategy is planned for delivery at the end of 2018.
