Peter Kaiser has been selected by the International Society for Rock Mechanics (ISRM) to receive the Müller Award in recognition of distinguished contributions to the profession of rock mechanics and rock engineering. This is ISRM’s most prestigious award and is presented once every four years at the ISRM Congress. Dr. Kaiser will deliver the Müller lecture during the 14th ISRM International Congress in Foz de Iguaçu, Brazil, in September 2019.
GeoEdmonton 2018 was pleased to continue the Best Conference Paper Awards first presented in 2016. The winner of the Best Case History Paper this year was Matt Thibeault of Golder Associates (co-authors J. P. Dittrich, T. Zalucki and T. Sangiuliano) for his paper Highway 63 Embankment on Soft Ground – Design, Construction and Long-Term Monitoring: a Case Study. The winner of the Best Paper with a Student as the Lead Author was Frédérique Tremblay-Auger of the Université Laval (co-authors A. Locat, S. Leroueil, P. Locat, J. Therrien, D. Demers, and R. Mompin) for his paper The 2016 Landslide at Saint-Luc-de-Vincennes. Congratulations to all.
