It has been a great honour and privilege to serve the Canadian Geotechnical Society – it has been a rewarding, exciting and enjoyable experience. As President over the past two years, I had the opportunity to work with an amazing group of volunteers. Let me express my sincere gratitude to the members of the Executive Committee, members of the Board of Directors, CGS volunteers involved in the Board, Sections, Divisions, Committees and external representations, as well as our corporate sponsors and supporters. Special thanks are due to our colleagues at the CGS National Office who have ably assisted to successfully complete many CGS tasks over the past two years.
At the start of the New Year in January 2019, Mario Ruel will assume his duties as CGS President. I am pleased to report that the process of transferring the responsibilities of the Society to Mario and his new executive team is going well. I invite all members to volunteer and to encourage young geo-professionals and students to join and contribute to the CGS.
Season’s Greetings and wishing all of you a Very Happy New Year 2019!
