The 72nd annual CGS conference held in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador was a big success. Congratulations to the Conference Chair, Sterling Parsons, and to all the members of the local organizing committee. We would also like to thank our generous sponsors and exhibitors for their support, providing a first-class delegate experience. From the Young Professionals Event on Sunday afternoon, followed by the Icebreaker and Exhibitor Reception that evening, to the Legget Award Luncheon and CGS Awards Banquet on Monday, Tuesday’s Annual Business Luncheon and Local Colour Night at the Rooms, as well as Wednesday’s Heritage Luncheon (featuring a tribute to Jack Clark) and conference wrap up – it was an exciting event in a great location. Over 500 delegates attended and more than 230 papers were presented, making GeoSt.John’s 2019 another well-attended and worthwhile CGS conference!
The next CGS Annual conference – GeoCalgary 2020 – will be held September 13-16, 2020 in Calgary, Alberta. The organizing committee just launched their website, along with the Call for Abstracts. Visit www.GeoCalgary2020.ca for more information, and to submit your abstract before January 17, 2020.
