A Brief One Minute ‘’e-word’’ from Mario

Hello Everyone!

Let me start by wishing you all a healthy, happy and successful new year.

I would like 2020 to set the tone for the next decade. Let me share briefly my vision.

In 2030, I see our CGS being very prosperous, with a diversified and inclusive group, more present and relevant than ever for our members and the society we live in. Our CFEM 2021 e-version will be in its eighth year of publication, regularly enhanced and expanded to make it ‘’THE’’ Geotechnical Reference Manual in Canada – more than a must for Canadian geo-professionals and one of the most respected publications worldwide.

Moreover, the CGS will continue to progress on the four pillars which inspired our team’s mission in 2019:

Hundreds of young geo-professionals are joining the CGS before graduation and do remain active after joining the workforce.
Our membership is enriched and guided by the presence of over 30% of women in our ranks.
Our Geo-Practitioners are as active in sharing the ‘’state of practice’’ as our members from Academia are in communicating geo-scientific developments.
More Francophones than ever are joining the CGS as they do feel part of our “grande famille” with increased services in English and French.

I am confident that all of this and much more will become reality in the coming years. But first things first! I invite you to renew your CGS membership for 2020. I just completed this, and it took me two minutes. If you believe in the CGS, then don’t wait! Do it now! And encourage your colleagues to do the same.
