C.O. (Chuck) Brawner recently passed away at the age of 90. Chuck was a well known and respected geotechnical engineer who, although based in BC for most of his career, worked across Canada and around the world. His career included working with the BC Department of Highways, the consulting firm Golder Brawner, teaching in the Mining Engineering Department at the University of British Columbia and working as a specialty consultant. His prime contributions were in the area of slope stability related to mining. In 2004 he published a memoir entitled "Around the World in 50 Years". Among other awards, Chuck was the 1999 recipient of the CGS R.F. Legget Award (now Medal).
