The LOC for GeoVirtual 2020 is working hard to bring you the first ever virtual annual CGS conference, a symbol of our community and resilience during a challenging time. In addition, four short courses will be offered with topics relevant to geotechnical instrumentation and modeling, and with the online platform, we will not only be bringing together the geotechnical community of Canada, but of the world.
We are pleased to announce that a special Heritage Session will include words from Norbert Morgenstern. The 2020 CGS Awards will be presented online and will include announcements of the R.F. Legget Medal, GeoVirtual 2020 Awards for Best Case Study Paper and Best Student Paper, Division and Young Professional Awards, Student Awards, the Stermac Awards, and those of the Canadian Geotechnical Journal.
Paper submissions are now closed, and we have over 170 papers. With the R.M. Hardy address by Dennis Becker, the CGS Colloquium presentation by Ariane Locat, and multiple special sessions and discussion panels, GeoVirtual 2020 promises to be a conference rich in technical content. The conference will be available to you through our professionally managed online platform which will also provide networking opportunities. Please visit the conference website at www.geovirtual2020.ca for more information, and stay tuned as the website is updated regularly. Delegate registration opens this month!
