In late 2020, Engineers and Geosciences British Columbia released its updated “Professional Practice Guidelines—Geotechnical Engineering Services for Building Projects”. Although directed specifically to geotechnical professionals working in BC, the updated document contains a great deal of useful information to those working in other Canadian provinces and territories as well. It includes chapters on the roles and responsibility of all parties involved including owners, professionals, contractors, and approving authorities; guidelines for professional practice including scope of services and reporting; quality management; and appropriate education, training and experience. It is available for free download from the EGBC website here.
