Due to the virtual nature of the event this year, the Southern BC (Vancouver) Section / Vancouver Geotechnical Society is able to open the doors to all CGS members and is inviting you to join them for their annual symposium! The following information was provided by the Vancouver Section:
Presentations will cover a wide range of practical presentations to manage geotechnical risk and liability for attendees across North America; be it legal considerations, technical project work or health and safety. Charles Hunt will be giving the keynote presentation on The deep seated geology and geotechnical conditions of North Vancouver as revealed through the excavation of the Twin Tunnel project. We will have presentations by local lawyers and insurance brokers on avoiding geotechnical risk, and what to do when claims arise. Technical presentations will include topics on managing risk of rock slopes, seismic design, and construction performance. The Symposium will also feature an award ceremony for the annual VGS Award, and a panel discussion at the end of the day featuring local technical and legal experts to discuss overarching questions.
