Ten students and/or members-in training (EITs and GITs) were provided with bursaries to help them attend GeoVancouver 2016 last October. The students/MITs were selected by their local CGS sections, and funded one third by CGS National, one third by GeoVancouver 2016 and one third by their section up to a total of $900. The recipients for 2016 were: Jiechun (Evan) Wu (Southern Alberta); Moira (Zhengyang) Guo (Northern Alberta & Territories); Jody Schafer (Southern Saskatchewan); Doyin Adesokan (Northern Saskatchewan); Samuel Kaluzny (Manitoba); Pedram Abootalebi (Southeast Ontario); João Renato R. Prandina (Eastern Ontario); Ahmed Mhenni (Western Québec); Simon Dumais (Eastern Québec); and Naveel Islam (Newfoundland & Labrador).
CGS Sections that are considering sponsoring a CGS Student/MIT to attend GeoOttawa 2017, should start the process now to encourage students/MITs to submit an abstract to GeoOttawa 2017 by January 15, 2017.
