The 75th Canadian Geotechnical Conference was held October 2-5 in Calgary, Alberta. The Local Organizing Committee, with Daniel Bertrand and Justyna Kos-Fairless acting as Co-Chairs, presented a successful conference with over 650 delegates. Thank you to all who attended and participated!
The LOC and the CGS would like to thank all conference sponsors and exhibitors for their support. In an uncertain and challenging year, it was exciting to be able to meet in-person once again to network and share ideas and knowledge. GeoCalgary 2022’s technical program included three full days of oral and poster presentations, special sessions, and keynote presentations.
The Winter 2022 issue of Canadian Geotechnique – The CGS Magazine will include a wrap-up of conference events and happenings in the CGS News section, but we’ve included some of the conference highlights here. The RM Hardy Keynote Address was presented by Jocelyn Hayley; the 2022 CGS Colloquium was given by Nicholas Beier; and the Graduate Student Presentation was presented by Bruce Gee. The Technical Committee planned three CGS Special Sessions: two Professional Practice and one Mining Geotechnique. Multiple networking events were organized, including the Young Professionals Networking Event and the Women in Geotechnique Breakfast.
The next CGS annual conference – GeoSaskatoon 2023 – will be held October 1-4, 2023, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Visit www.geosaskatoon2023.ca for more information; the Call for Abstracts will open soon!
