CGS is still seeking an editor for the next edition of the CFEM and will be taking steps to formalize a call for this position soon. As a result, the launch of a new online edition is still a couple years away from being completed. However, in the interim we are taking steps to update the 4th Edition and to make it more current – an update of the 4th Edition Errata was recently completed. This will be posted on the CGS website this month and will be distributed with all future sales of the 4th Edition.
Work is underway to produce a revised Limit States Design chapter with the goal of having this chapter completed and available by the end of 2018. We are also actively pursuing an update of the Seismic Design chapter and hope to have it completed and available in a similar timeframe as the Limit States Design chapter. The intent is to release these two new chapters as an update/addendum to the 4th Edition, while work continues on the remaining chapters.
We recognize that these two practice areas are in urgent need of a refresh and have focused our efforts there. A new online edition is still the ultimate goal; however, it has become clear that a soft roll out with updated chapters as they become available is most likely the way an updated CFEM will be delivered at the current time.
